Dear parents and guardians,

I hope you are all keeping safe and well during these challenging times. Thank you for the great effort you have made to ensure that the children are engaging as fully as possible with our online learning platforms Seesaw and Padlet. We are delighted with what we are seeing so far. Thanks also to Anita and Ms Callery for their ongoing technical support. We are all happy to help at any time so please continue to contact us with any queries that may arise.

As it now appears that the school closure will be extended we are making arrangements for the children’s workbooks and other classroom materials to be sent home. The packs will be ready for collection on Thursday and the attached pdf let’s you know the time you should come to collect your child’s pack. If there is more than one child in your family you can collect all the packs at the same time. Please wear a face covering when you come to school and maintain social distance at all times. Please do not come to school if you have any symptoms of Covid 19 or if you have been in contact with anyone who has tested positive for the virus. Please email me on almamoran@hopejns.ie if you have any concerns.

Please remember to find a rhythm around your child’s school work that works best for your family. I believe that home schooling is not the correct term for what we are all dealing with at the moment. Home schooling in it’s truest sense is something very different and we should not put ourselves under undue pressure. We are all trying to manage the demands of home, school and work during a truly unprecedented and exceptional period of our lives. Encourage your child to try their best everyday and engage as fully as possible with the activities being set. Please do as much or as little as works best for your family. Balance the assigned work with free play, outdoor activities and down time with board games, movies, music or some TV. Encourage the children to help around the house and develop important life skills in the process. Everyone returning to school feeling safe, secure, healthy and well must be our absolute priority.

Kindest regards to you and your wonderful children
