We were honoured with a visit from Taoiseach Leo Varadkar on Monday, November 20th. He came to congratulate the boys & girls on achieving the Digital School of Distinction award for the Junior School. The Junior Infant children welcomed Mr Varadkar on his arrival and children from all classes showcased their digital learning for him. He was really impressed with our use of Bee Bots, Coding Activities, Interactive Whiteboard and iPads to support learning, online research as well as the
iMovies, Robots & Animations created by the children. Mr Varadkar, Ms Callery and Mr Gerard McHugh from The Digital Schools Programme spoke to everyone in the hall afterwards and said we should be very proud of all that we can do. We presented Mr Varadkar with some lovely Christmas Socks and a Technology Quiz so that he could test his knowledge when he gets time.
We were delighted that Jack Chambers TD was also able to join our celebration and he thought the children’s work was fantastic as well.
Joella Dhlamini who was participating in UNICEF’s #KidsTakeOver initiative as part of World Childrens Day joined the Taoiseach on the day too.
Thank you to Ms Callery for leading the area of Digital Learning in our school and to all the children & staff on their hard work and great achievements.
