May Bank Holiday Weekend

5/2/2020

Hello everyone,
I just want to say a big thank you to you all for everything you have been doing over the last number of weeks. We miss you so much but are very proud of you and how well you are managing in these very strange times.

Parents and guardians, thank you so much for all you have been doing to support your children in what I know are very challenging circumstances. Please continue to do as much or as little school work as is manageable for you, your child and your particular situation. Everyone’s health and wellbeing must be top of the agenda for us all at the moment. Keep in touch with us and let us know if we can help in any way.

Can I also take this opportunity to thank the staff of the school for all that they are doing to ensure that children and families are as well supported as possible at the moment. They are doing this while facing the challenges on a personal level that we are all dealing with.

I know families in our school community and staff of the school have lost family members in recent weeks. I ask you to remember them in particular at this time.

It is hard to believe that it is already May 1st. Normally we would be taking a break from our schoolwork and planning outings to parks, playgrounds and beaches. In the absence of being able to meet with family and friends this Bank Holiday, boys and girls what not arrange a call or write them a card? Continue to keep in touch with us via your class Padlet or send a book review or recommendation to the Book Club Padlet. The photos coming in for the Gallery of Curiosities are wonderful, please continue to send them in.

Teachers will be back in touch on Wednesday May 6th with more schoolwork. Meanwhile I have attached some activities you might like to try out over the Bank Holiday.

It was National Poetry Day during the week so I have included a collection of poems that you and your family might like to read together. Maybe you would like to write your own poem and share it on your Padlet. I have also included a Rhyming Scavenger Hunt because I know you are really good at these.

I have included a Flower Craft Activity. I’ve seen lots of pictures of you working in the garden and planting seeds and flowers. I plan on planting some flowers over the weekend and will share some pictures with you on the Gallery of Curiosities next week.

Some of our boys and girls are amazing at LEGO so I have included a LEGO  Bingo Challenge for you.
You can play in different ways:
•    Use the bingo sheet for family game night - Play for a one-line win, or aim for a classic bingo ‘full house’ - Don’t forget to shout BINGO loudly when you’re done!
•    Play solo for some quiet LEGO fun
•    Impose a time limit to make it a bit harder
•    Share photos of your creations with your friends or create them together during a video call.

Boys and girls you are so good at being kind to others in school and at home. It is something that makes us very proud of you all. Remember that it is also very important to be kind to yourself – particularly at the moment. Complete the Kindness Chart attached and see how many acts of kindness you can show yourself over this Bank Holiday Weekend.

Finally I have listed below some more virtual tours that  you and your family might like to enjoy between now and Tuesday. Let us know what ones you particularly liked.
