Dear parents,
As you know your child has just a few short weeks left with us in the Junior School. We know that transition can be both exciting and daunting at the same time. They are very ready for the next stage of their journey and each child will be very well looked after in the Senior School. Their teachers will work through our transition programme in the coming weeks with them and hopefully reassure them if they have any concerns or worries about the move. Some of our children will transfer to schools other than the senior school and we wish them well. It’s important that they engage in some of the transition activities too to help them on their journey.
Your children’s teachers sent a PowerPoint with voiceover yesterday. Hopefully you have had a chance to view it. Next week teachers will meet with the children in small groups for a check in via Zoom. You will receive a link to the Zoom call in advance of the meeting which will be on either Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday morning. The call will take no longer than 15 minutes. Even if your child is not going to MMH Senior school they should join the meeting so that they can chat with teacher and friends about the new school they are going to.
The following guidelines should be adhered to for the Zoom Call:
You or another adult should be in the same room as your child when the call is taking place.
The call should not be taken in a bedroom or a room where that is very busy
Everyone should be appropriately dressed - no pyjamas please - remember this is school even if you’re not in uniform!
Mic should be on mute unless your child is speaking
Everyone should speak & listen with kindness and respect
No eating or drinking during the call
Children should stay seated and present for the duration of the call
The chat or screen sharing options should not be used
No part of the call should be recorded.
During the week of the 15th the children will receive a transition booklet followed by a recorded tour of the senior school with Mr McGorman & Ms Fitzpatrick. At the end of the month you will receive a link to a prerecorded graduation ceremony. You will hear more about that nearer the time.
Meanwhile if you have any particular concerns, please let me know on info@hopejns.ie
Kind regards,
Ms Moran
