Dear Parents and Guardians,
We hope you continue to keep safe and well during this unprecedented time. Over the past few weeks, life as we know it has changed dramatically and brought challenges that none of us could have foreseen. As a school staff we want to support you and your family in any way we can with our main priority being the health and well-being of the children in our care. I hope you get some time over the Easter Break to step back and reflect on what has happened since March 12th and affirm with your children how incredibly well they have coped.
Distance-learning is extremely challenging at primary level and it is important that we find the correct tools and get the balance right. We are all acutely aware of the pressures now being placed on parents and children and we do not want to be the cause of any additional stress. Teachers will have further school work ready on Monday April 20th. This will be delivered through the app for each class level on a weekly basis with the work broken down over five days. The information will also be available on our school blog on www.hopejns.com each Monday.
We know that facilitating your child’s learning while working from home is extremely challenging for parents. Your job, your income, your livelihood and the health of your family have to be your main priorities. As before, please treat all of the recommended assignments and activities like a menu – you and your child can pick and choose what to complete. It is so important that you strike a balance and keep everything in perspective. Please only do what works for your child and your particular circumstances at any given time.
We are thinking in a special way of all of of the parents from our school community who are working on the front lines during this very difficult time. We understand and appreciate the particular challenge that this presents for you and your family. Thank you for all that you are doing.
With school closures expected to extend for some time, our staff are continuing to explore and evaluate how best to support our pupils in a realistic way. The new Padlet Walls introduced last week are a great way to help the children keep connected with their teacher and classmates and I would encourage you to make use of them each week. Thanks to all who have contributed so far to both Padlet and our Gallery of Curiosities. It really has made our days to hear from the children and see what they have been doing. We have made a little video greeting for them and you will find the link to it at the end of this message. The boys and girls should be able to spot plenty of familiar faces!!
We will keep in touch with you over the Easter period with some carefully selected ideas of a non academic nature, that you and you family might like to try out. We are acutely aware that we are all in danger of becoming overloaded with well intentioned recommendations through all forms of social media so we will keep these posts to a minimum.
We are aiming to do the very best for our school community at this difficult time. If you have feedback you would like to share with us please do so on info@hopejns.ie.
Please do not hesitate to get in touch on info@hopejns.ie if you need our help in any way.
Stay safe and well – enjoy the video.
