Dear Parents and Guardians,
We understand that the circumstances we find ourselves in makes life particularly difficult for parents and guardians. We are aware that you may have to make alternative childcare arrangements, balance the demands of your own work and ensure that the impact on your children’s education is minimised. We will do our best to support you and your children as much as as possible while school is closed.
Teachers are planning suitable work for each class level and this will be made available to children through the school App from Wednesday March 18th. This is when children would have been due back in school after St Patrick’s Day celebrations. Tasks will be based around Literacy, Maths, SESE, PE, project work etc. It is work that should be completed and corrected at home. Projects can be brought in to school when things return to normal. While we would ask you to encourage your child to keep as busy as possible, the work we suggest is not compulsory and children do not need to complete every activity listed. You and your child should decide what work should be done while school is closed taking in to consideration your child’s age, ability and learning needs.
We would encourage you to structure your child’s days with a mixture of physical activity, outdoor play, reading, digital learning, music and dance, baking, art and craft, board games, card games, screen time, lego, planting and down time. Take time to chat and reassure them during this unsettled time and please heed government advice regarding play dates and social distancing.
Our competition for Seachtain na Gaeilge remains open for 1st and 2nd Class. If your child would like to research some aspect of Irish life, history or culture and create a poster, presentation or piece of art they are welcome to do so and bring it back to school when we return.
